Friday, October 4th – The arrival of today’s robust cold-front will produce breezy conditions with strong gusting winds and blowing dust along with a chance of showers. Depending on the timing and amount of any precipitation with today’s system, the peak winds will provide potential for widespread impacts from blowing dust this afternoon and evening before the winds taper off, which may allow air quality to eventually reach the AQI-Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range or higher on Friday. High pressure will return to the region for the weekend with sunny skies and seasonal temperatures, but cool clear nights and limited ventilation will trap fine particulates (PM-2.5) near the surface, creating a chance of AQI-Moderate conditions at times Saturday through Monday. /MCKAY
