Current Conditions at 3 p.m. EDT this Wednesday afternoon: Pleasant conditions are in store for the rest of the day, with a high pressure system over the Commonwealth bringing clear skies and temperatures reaching upwards of 80 degrees. PM2.5 rises into the moderate range as the evening progresses, while ozone just crosses the threshold into the low moderate zone. Here are the forecast details: *** Thursday’s forecast: As the weekend approaches, disturbances in the upper atmosphere create a high probability of rain showers through much of the day. Temperatures rise above the low 80s, with showers and thunderstorms ramping up around evening rush hour. Although high humidity raises PM2.5 concentrations to moderate, the combination of cloud coverage and rainfall will be crucial in reducing buildups. Ozone will see concentrations in the low moderate also dependent on rainfall and cloud coverage. *** Extended forecast: Friday sees increased upward motion ahead of an incoming cold front, contributing to more thunderstorms in the region. Highs in the mid 80s and early morning showers will transition into afternoon and evening storms. Saturday provides relief as the cold front drops south of the state, bringing in high pressure and mostly clear conditions, although a stray shower is possible. Sunday sees similar conditions with temperatures hovering in the low 80s. While Friday sees moderate concentrations for both PM2.5 and ozone, the rest of the weekend will hover between high good and low moderate dependent on cloud coverage and rain chances.
