Over the next few days, the highest Particle Pollution (PM2.5) will be in the Susquehanna Valley area. It is forecasted to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, meaning members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected.
***AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY IS IN EFFECT FOR TUESDAY*** Current Conditions at 2 p.m. EST Monday afternoon: East to northeast winds overnight have brought fine particle pollution (PM2.5) down into the moderate range. Concentrations of this pollutant will increase the next couple of days as winds remain light and become west-southwesterly. *** Tuesday's forecast: Air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups of the population most of the day Tuesday, especially in the morning and again Tuesday night, with average concentrations in the code ORANGE range. Morning clouds will give way to some sun as highs reach near the 50-degree mark. *** Extended forecast: Code ORANGE fine particle pollution will continue to be a factor into the mid-afternoon Wednesday with light south winds and the chance for rain late in the day. The chance for rain remains elevated late this week, mainly Friday and Friday night. Lighter than usual wind flow will keep air quality in the moderate range.---McAuliffe
