Primary air pollutant in the Delmont area:
PM2.5 - 63 Moderate
If you are unusually sensitive to particle pollution, consider reducing your activity level or shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
Current Conditions: At 3 p.m. EST this Friday afternoon, skies are overcast across the area with light wind flow not sufficient to keep fine particle pollution (PM2.5) below the moderate range. As winds increase from the northwest tonight into Saturday, air quality will improve, but rather cold air also arrives just in time for the start of winter, which will come at 4:19 a.m. EST Saturday morning. Temperatures are not expected to moderate until Monday of next week. Here are the forecast details: *** Saturday’s forecast: Mostly cloudy, windy, and cold Saturday with a couple of snow showers. Stronger mixing and vertical ventilation mean PM2.5 concentrations stay in the good range as temperatures do not get out of the upper 20s. *** Sunday’s forecast: Despite sunshine most of the day Sunday, highs will not get above the middle 20s. Winds will be lighter as high pressure builds in. Low humidity and clean background air will keep PM2.5 in the good range. *** Monday’s forecast: Sunshine and some clouds Monday with a slightly milder afternoon as high pressure shifts off to the east and turns winds into a southerly direction. While PM2.5 levels will increase, overall daily averages will remain in the good range. *** Extended forecast: Low pressure moving off to the north of the area Tuesday may bring rain and snow showers, then high pressure building in brings dry and seasonably cool air in for Christmas Day and Thursday. Air quality during this period will average in the lower moderate range.---McAuliffe
