Enjoy your outdoor activities.
Current Conditions: At 3 p.m. EST this Wednesday afternoon, showers are developing in the area out ahead of a strong cold front moving into eastern Ohio. The front will pass through this evening with heavier rain and a thunderstorm. Much colder air will sweep in behind the front later tonight and remain with us through the upcoming weekend with the first accumulating snow of the season. Here are the forecast details: *** Thursday’s forecast: Mostly cloudy and colder Thursday with a few snow showers that will bring little or no snow accumulation. Rain showers may even mix in at times as temperatures will not rise above the middle and upper 30s. Enough mixing is expected to where PM2.5 concentrations remain in the good range. *** Extended forecast: Low pressure coming southward into Pennsylvania Thursday night into Friday may have enough cold air with it for snow Thursday night into Friday morning, and the potential is there for a couple of inches accumulation in the valleys, with significant snow amounts possible in the Laurel Highlands southeast of Pittsburgh. Snow will turn over to rain by Friday afternoon. Gusty west to northwest winds will keep PM2.5 well down in the good range. A rain or snow shower Saturday morning, otherwise mostly cloudy and windy Saturday. High pressure brings more sunshine and less wind for Sunday. Air quality will remain in the good range through Saturday, then may go moderate in parts of the area Sunday. The next chance for rain may come Monday out ahead of the next cold front. ---McAuliffe
