*** Current Conditions as of 2 PM on Monday: High pressure continues to dominate the weather pattern with another day of dry conditions. A warm front lifted northward earlier today which has turned the wind southerly and breezy. Unseasonably warm conditions are expected for Tuesday before a midweek cold front returns those temperatures back to near normal. Concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM-2.5) will be inside the good range over this period. *** Tuesday’s Forecast: Temperatures may reach the low 70s on Tuesday, which is a bit above normal for the first week of November. Breezy southerly flow will limit how far temperatures fall overnight into Tuesday morning. This southerly flow will be quite gusty during the day to provide plenty of mixing. The high winds combined with the dry conditions will cause the wildfire risk to be elevated. As of Monday afternoon, there are no fires across the western portion of the state causing any air quality concerns. Concentrations of PM-2.5 are expected to be in the good range on average for the day. *** Extended Outlook: Cloud cover will increase as we head into early Wednesday. Chances for some much-needed showers will increase ahead of the approaching cold front. Unfortunately, any rain that falls is looking to be light and won’t have any impact on lessening the drought conditions. With breezy conditions continuing and the chance for some precipitation, PM-2.5 concentrations will remain at levels well inside the good range on Wednesday. Winds will become more northerly behind the front for Thursday as high pressure builds with good air quality continuing through at least the end of the week. The next best chance for precipitation will come over the back half of the weekend with hopefully more rainfall than Wednesday. --- Roble
