Current Conditions at 3 p.m. EDT this Wednesday afternoon: Pleasant conditions are in store for the rest of the day, with a high pressure system over the Commonwealth bringing clear skies and temperatures in the low 80s. Both ozone and PM2.5 are expected to sit in the high good range, with potential for ozone to just cross the threshold into the low moderate zone. Here are the forecast details: *** Thursday’s forecast: Upper atmospheric disturbances start to unfold as a cold front starts to approach the region. Southwesterly flow increases moisture in the area, creating early morning scattered showers and storms. Temperatures sit in the low 80s as storms roll through into the evening. Ozone will sit within the high good range, while PM2.5 goes into the moderate range. *** Extended forecast: Friday sees the cold front begin to move near the southeastern portion of the state, with increased moisture and leaving high pressure bringing bouts of showers and storms in the afternoon. Temperatures reach the high 80s, with cooling helping dispel remaining storms overnight. Saturday and Sunday provide relief from the high humidity and storms, with mostly clear skies and temperatures in the mid 80s. Lower humidity and occasional passing showers make outdoor conditions bearable. While Friday could see PM2.5 and ozone in the moderate, concentrations are heavily dependent on cloud cover and rainfall. Otherwise, pollutants are generally within the good range wrapping up the weekend.
