Current Conditions: ***A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. EST Tuesday*** At 3 p.m. EST this Monday afternoon, radar shows snow showers continuing to move into the area off the lake. A brisk west to southwest wind is keeping fine particle (PM2.5) concentrations down in the good range. Good air quality will continue most of the week but temperatures will remain well below normal. Here are the forecast details: *** Tuesday's forecast: Snow showers will continue Tuesday as cold west winds blow off the lake. Another 4 inches of accumulation is likely, with over 6 inches in the inland areas. PM2.5 will average in the good range. *** Extended forecast: Wednesday should offer a respite from the lake effect pounding of late but rain and snow showers will still occur. However, little accumulation is expected with temperatures rising to near 40 degrees. Strong and gusty south winds will keep PM2.5 low. Surface winds then shift back into a west to northwest direction Thursday into Friday and crank up the lake effect machine once again. It may not be until late Saturday into Sunday when winds lessen and temperatures warm some that the snows finally settle down.---McAuliffe
