Primary air pollutant in the Jefferson area:
PM2.5 - 67 Moderate
If you are unusually sensitive to particle pollution, consider reducing your activity level or shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
Current Conditions at 3 PM EDT this Wednesday afternoon: Skies are partly sunny across the region with showers and thunder developing across areas south of Pittsburgh. Fine particle (PM2.5) concentrations remain solidly in the moderate range. A series of weather systems affecting the area Thursday and Friday will elevate shower and thunderstorm chances. Here are the forecast details: *** Thursday’s forecast: Times of clouds and sunshine with mainly afternoon and evening thunderstorms developing Thursday. Light southwest winds and higher humidity will lead to moderate concentrations of PM2.5--highest during the morning. *** Extended forecast: Mostly cloudy Friday with showers and thunderstorms likely as highs remain near 80. PM2.5 will still average moderate with little mixing and high humidity. High pressure will slowly build in over the weekend, but with still the chance for an isolated thundershower Saturday. Air quality over the weekend in the high good to lower moderate range. We will continue to monitor the southward progression of any wildfire smoke from eastern Canada over the weekend as well.---McAuliffe
