Current Conditions: At 2 p.m. EST this Wednesday afternoon, skies were partly sunny with temperatures still on the mild side. Light mixing and higher relative humidity have kept fine particle (PM2.5) readings in the low moderate range. A strong cold front is currently moving through the Ohio valley and will cross our area tonight with much needed rainfall. Colder air will sweep in behind the front and remain with us into the weekend. Here are the forecast details: *** Thursday’s forecast: Some sunshine during the morning, then clouds come in during the afternoon with perhaps a shower of rain. Temperatures will struggle to get past the 50-degree mark. Increasing low level flow will mean PM2.5 concentrations remain in the good range. *** Extended forecast: Low pressure will swing southward into Pennsylvania Friday. As a result, the sky will be overcast with frequent cold rain showers as temperatures may struggle to get much above the 40-degree mark. Clouds and perhaps some sunshine and windy Saturday, then high pressure builds in Sunday with increasing sunshine and a milder afternoon. The next chance for showers comes Monday night with the approach of the next frontal system. Air quality will remain in the good range Friday into the weekend. ---McAuliffe
