By this evening, the front will be through, leading to colder conditions overnight and Friday. Fine particle (PM2.5) concentrations remain in the lower moderate range this afternoon. Lower PM2.5 is expected Friday, then elevated pollutant levels are likely over the weekend with temperatures moderating and winds lessening. Here are the forecast details: *** Friday’s forecast: Mostly cloudy and cold Friday. Low pressure passing well to the south might bring a bit of snow from the midday into the evening with under ½ inch expected. PM2.5 levels will also lower to the high good range, but these will increase Friday night as surface winds become light. *** Extended forecast: Light winds, limited dispersion, low level inversions, and moderating temperatures will lead to higher PM2.5 both Saturday and Sunday with concentrations going well into the moderate range. The highest PM2.5 is most likely Saturday night/early Sunday. The next cold front comes through Sunday night with a rain or snow shower, then another shot of cold air follows the front Monday and Tuesday.
