Enjoy your outdoor activities.
Other Pollutants:
PM2.5 - 34 Good
Current Conditions: At 2 p.m. EST this Friday afternoon, winds are lighter than the past couple of days as high pressure is building into Pennsylvania. Fine particle (PM2.5) levels have increased slightly, but air quality remains good. Further buildups in PM2.5 will occur over the weekend into the moderate threshold with surface mixing being reduced. Here are the forecast details: *** Saturday’s forecast: Morning clouds with a bit of snow will give way to mostly cloudy skies by afternoon Saturday. Fine particle concentrations will average in the lower moderate range, with the better air quality coming during the afternoon with increasing west to northwest winds. High temperatures will reach the upper 20s. *** Sunday’s forecast: Lower surface winds Sunday mean less mixing and dispersion of pollutants, so the average PM2.5 concentrations will still average low moderate. With more in the way of sunshine, the mercury will max out in the middle 30s. *** Monday’s forecast: Times of clouds and sunshine and seasonably cold Monday. A cold front approaching during the afternoon will bring a snow shower or two. PM2.5 concentrations will start the day moderate, then improve to the good range towards evening. *** Extended forecast: A blustery and very cold pattern will return to the region Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures not getting much above 20 degrees either day. Brisk northwest winds will promote good air quality, but also wind chills down in the single digits.---McAuliffe
