Current Conditions as of 3 p.m. Monday: Skies remain mostly cloudy across the area with patchy fog and a light southwest wind. Tonight, fine particle pollution will increase under a mostly cloudy sky, a moderately strong inversion, and low mixing heights. *** Tuesday's forecast: The possibility of high moderate air quality will be with us Tuesday morning until the inversion breaks later in the morning. Overall mixing will improve late in the morning and afternoon, so overall PM2.5 levels remain in the middle moderate range. *** Extended forecast: South winds will be more gusty Wednesday with a high chance for rain. This will improve air quality to the high good range. Unsettled conditions continue late Thursday into Friday as low pressure moves out of the Tennessee valley. Turning colder Saturday night into Sunday with rain possibly changing to snow. Upper good to lower moderate PM2.5 levels will be the rule late this week.---McAuliffe
