OZONE - 19 Good
Current Conditions as of 3pm Friday: On the eve of the weekend, the area is experiencing scattered showers, warm temperatures in the 60's, and a southerly breeze allowing for upper-good/low-moderate concentration of fine particulate (PM2.5) to prevail for the remainder of the day. ***Saturday’s Forecast: As yesterday’s storm passes by to the north, the rain-free period overnight into the morning will be short lived as a second storm system approaches from the southwest. Scattered showers, continued southerly winds, warm temperatures in the low 50’s, albeit, not as warm as Friday, will result in an upper-good range of PM2.5 before a strong cold front sweeps through Saturday night. ***Sunday’s Forecast: A very different day compared to Saturday as weather behind the strong cold front will feature gusty westerly winds, temperatures in the 30’s, scattered snow showers and due to abundant mixing and injection of cleaner air, good air quality should be present. ***Monday’s Forecast: As high pressure starts to move in, the gusty westerly winds will start to relax, skies will become mostly sunny, albeit, still cold near 40 degrees, and with a clean air mass still in place, PM2.5 concentrations should remain in the good range. ***Extended Outlook: As an axis of high pressure sits over the area, PM2.5 will increase to the low-moderate range with less mixing, lighter southwest winds, and calm, cold nights creating temperature inversions overnight into the morning hours Tuesday and Wednesday. ---VanLenten
