Daily Air Quality Forecast for Forest. Hills, Pennsylvania

Current Conditions: At 3 p.m. EDT this Friday afternoon, fine particle pollution (PM2.5) concentrations have decreased significantly across the area over the past few hours. However, due to elevated morning values, averages for today will end up in the mid to high moderate range. Despite winds turning into a northerly direction Saturday, moderate air quality is still expected and will continue through Sunday as well. Lower PM2.5 will occur Monday and Tuesday with a breezy northwesterly flow. Here are the forecast details: *** Saturday’s forecast: PM2.5 levels will remain moderate Saturday. However, with a northerly flow and a weaker inversion, the high readings experienced Friday morning will not occur. Sunshine for the most part with temperatures in the middle to upper 70s. *** Sunday’s forecast: A stronger inversion may elevate PM2.5 again early Sunday morning, then a brisk southwest wind during the afternoon lowers concentrations. Moderate air quality will still occur with showers and a thunderstorm late in the day into the evening hours as a strong cold front approaches and passes through early Sunday night. *** Monday’s forecast: Better air quality is in store for Monday, with breezy northwest winds and partly sunny skies. Turning cooler as well with highs remaining in the lower to middle 60s. *** Extended forecast: Slightly below normal temperatures are expected through the middle of the week with a dry westerly flow. With high pressure building in later in the week, a return to moderate air quality is possible with light winds and morning inversions.---McAuliffe
