Daily Air Quality Forecast for Speedway, Indiana

Central Regions: Readings have been Good all week for PM2.5, and Good for Ozone Mon-Wed, then Moderate on Thursday. One last warm day today before temperatures plummet across the area tomorrow. Partly sunny skies are expected today as first a warm front lifts north over the area and later a cold front on Saturday. High temperatures will be in the lower 80's to middle 80's. An isolated storm ahead of the front is possible. Winds will be south at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight as the front inches closer chances for rains showers and thunderstorms are likely, especially after midnight. Then rain chances will become almost 100% into early Saturday before coming to an end in the early afternoon. Temperatures will fall throughout the day thanks to the cold frontal passage. Temperatures will start out around 60 and then fall into the low to mid 50's by the late afternoon. The front will do a good job of cleaning out the area. For Sunday expecting sunny skies with highs in the upper 50's, with gusts up to 30 mph. Monday will also be sunny with highs around 60 and east northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Mixing heights this afternoon will be around 6000 ft and Saturday will be around 3000-4000 ft. Sunday they jump up to around 7000-8000 ft, and then back down to around 4000-5000 ft for Monday. The NOAA 06Z BC model is forecasting Good straight across the board for both PM2.5 and Ozone. Agree (almost) 100% with this forecast, even when it becomes dry and sunny for the second half of the period, it will be much too gusty on Sunday and for Monday the winds will be out of the northeast which is not favorable. The only part I do not agree with this model is for the Ozone for today based on forecast persistence. Yesterday the majority of the area went Moderate, and already this morning we are seeing readings creep up. Apparently sunny skies will not be needed, partly sunny skies today should be enough along with warming temperatures to put Ozone in Moderate once again.
