PM2.5 readings the last few days have been good, thanks to the stronger surface winds, rainier weather pattern, and the recent cold fronts passing through our region. The latest 09Z surface map indicates another cold front over central Indiana and a previous cold front now south of Indiana. The current cold front will continue to move south today and a high pressure system will sink in from the central plains/middle Mississippi valley, giving some regions still light rain today, but drier weather for the weekend. Highs will be in the low 50s today and tomorrow, Sunday in the upper 50s to low 60s, and through early next week we will continue to see temperatures in the low 60s.Dewpoints will be mostly in the 30s and will push up into the 40s come early next week. Today's winds are a bit stronger around 5-15 MPH from the north, the rest of the weekend within 0-10 MPH, from the northwest tomorrow, west-southwest Sunday and Monday. Periods of cloud cover forecasted through the weekend but should still have plenty of sun during the daytime. Mixing heights around 4000 ft today, 3300 ft tomorrow, 3000 ft Sunday and Monday. As for the PM2.5 forecast, Canadian model shows mostly good for the weekend. NOAA BC shows Good today, moderate Saturday and Sunday. Moderate readings for tomorrow come from stronger PM readings tonight that clear off during peak heating hours tomorrow. Sunday remains moderate throughout most of the 24 hours. Good is likely today as we're still under a fresh air mass. I also think Good is likely to continue through tomorrow given recent measurements being Good and a lack of pollution build up, though some low end moderates overnight aren't out of the question. Sunday and Monday, moderates are more likely due to southerly flow, persistent high pressure, and an inversion around 850 mb sinking down to around 925 mb by Sunday, limiting any upward mixing.
