Daily Air Quality Forecast for Dunreith, Indiana

Weather Analysis and Air Quality Forecasting Decisions: Fine Particulate:  Latest surface analysis as of around 12Z this morning depicts a cold front making its way through central Indiana to southeastern Indiana. Latest temperature observation at the airport is 60 degrees and expect that to fall into the middle 40’s by 1pm. Most of the heavier rain was overnight and this morning the area is left with lighter rain. Conditions will then dry up and become mostly cloudy by the afternoon. There is a wind advisory in place for some of the north-central counties until 11am. Then a special weather statement is in effect for slightly less gusty winds for the rest of the area. High pressure will briefly build in this afternoon and tonight then a surface low pressure system from Missouri is expected to cross over the southern tier of the state, bringing rain chances as far north to the area. So tomorrow appears to be the area’s next best chance for a shot at rain before cooling off on Saturday night to lows in the middle 20’s and tapering to light snow showers/flurries as it pulls away from the area. Highs on Sunday will be on the cool side, 30-35 degrees, then jump up to highs 40-45 for Monday. Both days will be gusty, first Sunday with northwest gusts as high as 25 mph and then on Monday southwest gusts as high as 25 mph. Sustained speeds should be around 10 to 15 mph both days. Mixing heights this afternoon will be around 3200 ft and then 4000 ft for Saturday and Sunday, then 3000 ft for Monday. The Canadian model wants to go with Good for the forecast period which it always does. The 06Z NOAA Model is going with Moderate the first two days, then Good for the rest of the period which makes sense since by Sunday/Monday the area should be well cleaned out and quite gusty. So am leaning toward the 06Z NOAA Model and going with Moderate to start this forecast period for both sites and then Good to end the forecast period.
