Weather Analysis and Air Quality Forecasting Decisions: Fine Particulate: Latest surface analysis as of around 12Z this morning reveals high pressure across most of the southern and eastern US. A cold front currently over the northern states is going to slowly swag southward until it reaches the Michigan/Ohio border where it will meander as a boundary briefly Tuesday morning through Tuesday night. There’s enough moisture and forcing for showers to develop along this boundary, and they may make it to some of the northern counties in the area during this time. Rain looks more likely early Wednesday morning into Wednesday as the boundary lifts north and a cold front quickly moves east across the area. Thursday a warm front will lift north over the area producing more chances for rain, followed by a weak cold front on Friday. Temperatures will be above climatologically normal during this period, especially high temperatures. Winds will be a sustained 5 to 10 mph with some days gusting to around 25 mph. Mixing heights this afternoon and tomorrow will be around 2100 ft. Wednesday mixing heights jump up to 5000 ft, then back down to 3000 ft for Thursday and then 4000 ft for Friday. The 06Z NOAA Model guidance is going with Moderate’s across the board for both sites. Per the latest observation over the last two days, the area appears to be going back into a Moderate pattern. Uncertain how much the rain chances in the latter half of the week will have on PM2.5 but am planning on playing it conservatively going with Moderate.
