Central Regions: Yesterday was mostly Moderate for PM2.5 and ozone was all Good. As of 12Z this morning, cool surface high pressure is building down from Canada over the Great Lakes region, including Indiana. This will continue through tomorrow and on Thursday night begin shifting eastward. At 500 mb it shows a ridge building over the region, and then quickly breaking down and shifting eastward by 12Z Friday morning. Also at 12Z Friday morning there is a trough to the west of the Great Lakes region digging in over the area and will slowly move toward Indiana through the early part of this weekend. In the meantime, this means similar weather with slightly less humidity is expected for the next couple of days with highs in the low to mid 80's. Dew points will be around 60 degrees today and tomorrow. Winds will be northerly both today and Thursday at 5 to 10 mph today and around 5 mph tomorrow. Mixing heights this afternoon and tomorrow will be around 6000 ft. As for model guidance, the Canadian for ozone is depicting Good for both today/tomorrow. The 06Z BC NOAA model is also showing Good for today/tomorrow for both sites. So taking these model solutions into consideration, and also persistence and the expected northerly flow, will continue to go with Good for ozone both days. As for PM2.5, the NOAA model is showing Good for both days for both sites. Which makes sense since the area got pretty well cleaned out these past two days. Northerly flow does not lend itself well to good PM2.5 build-up either over the next two days, so will lean in toward the NOAA model and go with Good for both today/tomorrow.
