Weather Analysis and Air Quality Forecasting Decisions: Fine Particulate: Foggy or mostly cloudy this morning with temperatures near 30 as a low and cold front has pushed southward through into the Tennessee Valley after bringing a few inches of snow to the area. Highs will rebound to about 40 today. A large cold high pressure system is building into Saskatchewan and the northern US plains with a clipper following closely behind. A strong northwesterly jet will continue through the weekend with a clipper expected to bring some more snow late Saturday / early Sunday for Southeast but might only dusting Southwest sections. Temperatures will drop from near freezing late Saturday afternoon to single digits for Sunday morning on steady northwest winds, limiting highs to the mid-teens, despite the sunshine. After another morning low in the single figures Monday, highs should return to freezing as the surface high retreats to the east. Well above freezing for Wed/ Thurs. Mixing heights may only be 1,500 today increasing to 2,000 Saturday and likely 3,000 for Sunday. 850 mb temperatures will be near 0 until late Saturday evening then falling to -14 deg C by Sunday, then bouncing up to +3 C by Monday evening. The NOAA particulate model is showing Moderate levels of pollution from now until very early in the morning Sunday and a very low particulate until Monday morning becoming Moderate by noon. Canadian models show Moderate for Saturday and Good for Sunday.
