Daily Air Quality Forecast for Jamestown, Indiana

Central Regions: PM2.5 was Good for the past forecast period except for at Indianapolis it was Moderate on Tuesday and Thursday. As for Ozone it was Good Tuesday and Wednesday and then mostly Moderate for Thursday. High pressure at the surface and an Omega Block pattern aloft will keep the weather dry for the foreseeable future. It will also keep temperatures near seasonable in the upper 70's to lower 80's for the period. Winds will either be east or northeast, generally ranging from 5 to 10 mph throughout the period. Starting today, winds will be easterly around 5 mph, tomorrow they pick up a bit out the northeast at 5 to 10 mph, then Sunday back to the east around 5 mph and Monday northeast around 5 mph. Skies will average partly cloudy during this time. Mixing heights today will be around 3500 ft, tomorrow around 4200 ft, for Sunday around 3500 ft, and finally for Monday around 5000 ft. Interestingly, the Canadian is going with Moderate for Ozone for today and tomorrow, then Good for Sunday, while the 06Z BC NOAA model is going with Good straight across the board. (Usually these models do the opposite.) Am a bit concerned that central had north northeast winds yesterday, averaged 8 mph, with a sustained max speed of 17 mph, and gusted up to 24 mph for a peak wind…and the area still went to a modest Moderate majority. (And after being fairly recently cleaned out.) Planning of course to lean closer to the Canadian and go with Moderate for at least the first two days of the forecast period. USG from the northeast is not something the area typically sees. As for the second half of the period, the area may be impact by a disturbance from the west, but it's too early to tell if the ridge will break down at all for it. To be conservative will be finishing out the period with Moderate's. Then as for PM2.5, the Canadian and NOAA model are both going with Good straight across the board. Based on persistence this does not seem so out to lunch but could see the air getting dirtier through the period (and early on) and conditions going to Moderate. Indianapolis is already reporting Moderate, the only city to do so, so far. So will be going with Moderate this period for today and tomorrow and also the second half of the forecast period to err on the conservative side.
