Ozone values stayed in the Good AQI range on Thursday while PM10 values spiked into the Moderate AQI range due to blowing dust from gusty winds.
Ozone values moving forward are expected to remain in the Good AQI range with improved ventilation as low pressure develops over the region and remains in place into next week.
Winds remain breezy today, with the potential for spiking particulate levels from locally-driven pockets of dust, but overall, particulates today should remain in the upper Good AQI category.
Breezy conditions remain Saturday and Sunday with the developing system, again potentially triggering localized pockets of dust across the region with particulate values expected to reach the Moderate AQI range on Saturday, and to hold in the upper Good AQI range on Sunday with spikes into the Moderate range when triggered by any locally-driven dust.
This active weather pattern is driven by an upper-level low diving into northern Arizona today and pushing south through the weekend. The developing weather system strengthens over northern Baja Saturday and Sunday, persisting into early next week.
Upper level ridging and high pressure move into the region from the Pacific by midweek with milder conditions expected.
