Air Quality Index for Arizona

The highest AQ index in Arizona (as of 4:00 MST) is currently the West Pinal area. Particle Pollution (PM10) is measuring at 98 (Moderate). This means air quality is acceptable. However, there may be a risk for some people, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.

Over the next few days, the highest Ozone (OZONE) will be in the Phoenix area. It is forecasted to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, meaning members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected.

Strengthening high pressure along with the increasing daylight hours of May will facilitate elevated Ozone values for the next several days. In fact, peak 8 hour average Ozone readings are anticipated to be just within the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range today through Sunday. And thus, a High Pollution Advisory is in effect. Anticipate only very subtle improvement early in the next workweek.

Daily average PM10 is expected to reach the low Moderate range today followed by improvement to the Good range over the weekend. Values trend upward during the early part of the next workweek with low Moderate conditions anticipated by Tuesday (close on Monday). Daily average PM2.5 will follow a similar pattern with highest values expected today and lowest on Sunday before trending upward again.
