Yesterday's ozone and particulate values stayed low and within the Good AQI range. Ozone will remain seasonally low with particulates to remain in the Good AQI range early Thursday, however, we do expect particulates to become elevated later today as gusty winds develop across the region.
Yesterday's storm system brought more clouds and spotty rain showers to the area. Another quick-moving system moves into Arizona this afternoon, bringing the aforementioned gusty winds. Behind that system, an area of low pressure develops over northwestern Mexico Sunday into Monday, helping to direct a stronger gradient into the region, producing the gusty winds. These strong winds shift out of the north-northeast to northeast Friday, and persist into Saturday and Sunday, albeit just not a strong as Thursday-Friday's expected winds. This setup should elevate particulate values into the Moderate AQI range, especially this afternoon through Sunday.
