As the final low-pressure wave of the week moves on to the east, southeastern Arizona is left in a wake of colder air and wetter ground. This morning (Friday) and Saturday morning will be the coldest, with temperatures low enough to prompt the National Weather Service to issue a Freeze Warning for both mornings. Keep a jacket nearby! Cover those plants! Winter is here.
Then after Saturday, temperatures will gradually warm up again, with highs returning to the 60s by Sunday, and the low 70s by Tuesday of next week. Lows will also increase, moving away from the freezing mark. However, it will be breezy. Winds out of the east look to persist for several days--and even nights--through at least Monday.
Air quality-wise, the recent rain has resulted in great air quality. Both PM10 (dust) and PM2.5 (smoke) were very low all day yesterday (Thursday) and are still low this morning.
Looking ahead, the winds over the next several days are expected help to limit any locally produced PM10 and PM2.5. We just can't rule out elevated PM2.5 levels if/when winds become calm overnight.
