This morning (Friday), weather observations reveal a large low pressure wave situated over the Mountain West and the Southwest. The cold air associated with this wave will be the reason for the cool high temperatures this afternoon (upper 60s in Tucson!). This afternoon will be another breezy one, with winds out of the west. Not a lot of dust is expected though, since PM10 (dust) levels remained relatively low with yesterday's winds.
Then, by Saturday and through at least Tuesday of next week, things get a bit more chaotic. A lobe of cold air will get pinched off of the aforementioned wave, become its own circulation, and meander around. Saturday will be the quietest day with the lightest winds. But, Sunday and Monday will see increased breezes again, mainly out of the east/southeast. And on Tuesday, breezes switch to out of the west. Monday also looks to have some rain chances. Daytime temperatures will go up and down throughout the period, too.
Pockets of dust may be possible on any day, Sunday through Tuesday, but any rain on Monday would help to reduce dust. Winds should also help to reduce PM10 and PM2.5 (smoke) from morning local activities.
