Ozone levels were in the Moderate range on Friday and Sunday, and dropped to the Good range on Saturday. PM10 on the other hand, stayed in the Good range on Friday and Sunday, but increased into the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range on Saturday with afternoon dust. And lastly, PM2.5 stayed in the Good AQI range Friday and Sunday, but reached the Moderate range on Saturday.
Looking ahead, we are forecasting pretty persistent westerly winds this week, which would typically keep ozone levels lower. However, we are forecasting slightly higher ozone levels than we otherwise would due to the potential for smoke influence on ozone production. There is a wildfire over far western Arizona, which may cause some smoke enhanced ozone to move over the area. For now we are forecasting ozone levels to stay in the Moderate AQI range though the week.
Switching to particulates, it's not out of the question for thunderstorm outflows to reach the area this week. However, we currently aren't seeing any that look strong enough to cause any significant dust. Best chances for some dust look to be Tuesday morning, and as a result we are forecasting Moderate PM10 levels that day. Other than that, we are forecasting Good AQI levels for PM10 and PM2.5.
