Daily Air Quality Forecast for Gila Bend, Arizona

[View the ADEQ Hourly Forecast for Phoenix]
Isolated thunderstorm activity is expected again today over central Arizona with portions of the Greater Phoenix area likely to experience an abrupt change in winds during the late afternoon and evening hours (northern and western portions more likely to have outflows from the north; southern and eastern portions more likely to have outflow from the south). However, the winds are not expected to be overly strong. Storm activity on Thursday is expected to be confined to places like the eastern Mogollon Rim, White Mountains, and far southeast Arizona and so outflow winds are not expected to affect the forecast area. Thunderstorm activity retreats even more on subsequent days.

Apart from thunderstorm related winds later today, winds will follow familiar patterns with light and variable conditions in the overnight and morning hours then varying amounts of breeziness in the afternoon and evening hours (Today through Friday more breezy than Sat-Sun). Temperatures will be seasonally hot (within a few degrees of average).

Peak 8 hour average Ozone each day is anticipated to be in the moderate range given the time of year.

Daily average PM10 is expected to be in the Moderate range today - Friday due largely to construction and commercial activities starting up before the morning temperature inversion dissipates. There may also be a more modest "bump" in the readings in the late afternoon today due to gustiness from distant thunderstorms. Values Saturday and Sunday are expected to improve to the Good range with a typical decline in the construction/commercial activities over the weekends.

Daily average PM2.5 is expected to continue in the Moderate range due at least in part to ongoing daily transportation activities (tailpipe emissions).
