Other Pollutants:
OZONE - 31 Good
PM10 - 17 Good
Ozone levels continue to be limited by cloud cover and high dewpoints, but particle pollution remains elevated in the low to middle Code YELLOW range this afternoon. Particulates have accumulated ahead of an incoming cold front in the lower portion of the atmosphere, while also remaining trapped in the lower portion of the atmosphere due to cloud cover and isolated precipitation. Particle pollution is expected to remain elevated in the Code YELLOW range on Saturday until the cold front passes through the Triad tomorrow afternoon, when a drier and cooler Canadian high pressure ridge builds in from the north. Ozone levels will likely remain Code GREEN for the day, but could potentially see an increase in ozone production late afternoon once the front clears east of the Triad. Canadian high pressure is expected to keep the Triad drier and cooler Sunday and Monday, lowering particle pollution into the middle to upper Code GREEN range. However, ozone levels will likely trend upward as the ridge of high pressure begins to move offshore Monday afternoon, leading to low Code YELLOW AQI for the start of the work week. (Payne)
