Monday, as a high-pressure system builds in from the north, light northerly to northeasterly winds will limit pollutant dispersion across Louisiana. In addition, smoke from agricultural fires will increase particle concentrations in some areas. Furthermore, a temperature inversion during the morning and evening hours will reduce atmospheric mixing, leading to high-Good to low-Moderate AQI levels. Tuesday, northeasterly winds will strengthen through the morning hours as a high-pressure system advances southward toward Tennessee, enhancing pollutant dispersion and transporting cooler air into the Bayou State. However, winds will diminish in the evening, reducing dispersion and limiting mixing. Therefore, AQI levels will continue to be high-Good to low-Moderate. Wednesday, winds will shift to southeasterly as the surface high moves into southern Georgia and a cold front approaches Louisiana. These winds will recirculate pollutants across the Bayou State, while increasing relative humidity promotes particle formation. Therefore, despite late-day showers and thunderstorms aiding atmospheric mixing, AQI levels will remain high-Good to low-Moderate.
