The heat dome over the southern Great Plains will drift westward into the southwestern states during the next week. Slow southerly breezes will continue to bring moderate Saharan dust into Oklahoma, and ozone may reach the moderate category downwind of Dallas. Scattered rain showers from the monsoon may reach the western Panhandle almost every day. Isolated rain showers may develop in other areas on occasion, especially in the northeastern counties. A weak cold front may traverse Oklahoma for the weekend, and ozone will increase in its wake until the southerly flow redevelops. Otherwise, hot summer weather and Saharan dust will persist deep into August.
