Friday, November 22: As a cold upper-level low pressure system departs toward New England, moderate and gusty westerly to northwesterly winds will disperse pollutants and transport clean air into the Mahoning Valley. In addition, periods of precipitation will promote atmospheric mixing, leading to Good AQI levels. Saturday, November 23: A surface ridge of high pressure extending across the Midwest will generate gusty west-northwesterly winds in northeastern Ohio, keeping the lower levels of the atmosphere well mixed. Therefore, AQI levels will continue to be Good. Sunday, as that surface ridge gradually moves across the Buckeye State, lighter southwesterly winds will reduce dispersion in Youngstown-Warren. However, low pollutant carryover from the previous days will allow AQI levels to remain Good. Monday, increasing relative humidity will promote particle formation ahead of an approaching cold front. However, moderate southwesterly winds will support low-level mixing and dispersion, keeping AQI levels high-Good. Tuesday, moderate westerly winds in the wake of the departing cold front will transport another clean air mass into the Mahoning Valley, resulting in Good AQI levels. Wednesday, as surface high pressure builds into the Buckeye State, westerly winds will weaken and become calm in the afternoon and evening, limiting pollutant dispersion. As a result, AQI levels will increase to high-Good.
