Monday, November 4 and Tuesday, November 5: Moderate and gusty southerly winds ahead of an approaching cold front will aid dispersion in central Ohio. However, these winds will also transport pollutants into the Columbus region each day. In addition, local emissions will continue to contribute to elevated particle levels near the Fairgrounds. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate on both days. Wednesday, the cold front will move across central Ohio early in the day, with periods of rain aiding atmospheric mixing. Furthermore, west-northwesterly winds behind the front will transport cleaner air into the region, resulting in Good AQI levels. Thursday, as a surface ridge of high pressure approaches the Columbus region, winds will weaken, reducing dispersion. In addition, a temperature inversion will limit low-level mixing throughout the day, leading to low-Moderate AQI levels. Friday, moderate west-northwesterly winds behind another cold front will promote low-level mixing and dispersion, allowing AQI levels to improve to high-Good. Saturday, calm to light easterly winds will allow pollutants to accumulate in central Ohio as a surface high pressure system passes to the north. Furthermore, a ridge of high pressure aloft will hinder atmospheric mixing, leading to low-Moderate AQI levels.
