As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Friday, January 10: Light southerly to southeasterly winds ahead of an approaching cold front will continue to hinder dispersion in central Ohio. In addition, morning low temperatures in the single digits will generate a strong inversion, trapping pollutants near the ground. Therefore, AQI levels will increase to mid-Moderate. Saturday, mixing will improve as an upper-level trough of low pressure passes over the state. At the surface, strengthening westerly winds will disperse pollutants and transport a clean air mass into central Ohio behind the departing cold front. As a result, AQI levels will improve to Good. Sunday, mixing will be inhibited as upper-level high pressure passes over the Buckeye State. In addition, periods of light southerly winds will carry regional pollutants back into central Ohio, while a morning inversion traps pollutants at the surface. Thus, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Monday and Tuesday, as a trough of low pressure expands over Ohio, mixing will be enhanced. At the surface, moderate to gusty westerly winds will disperse pollutants each day, allowing AQI levels to improve to Good on both days.
