Friday, January 9: Gusty southerly to westerly winds will aid dispersion as a surface low-pressure system moves across the Great Lakes. These winds will aid dispersion, resulting in high-Good AQI levels. Saturday, January 10: A strong trough of low-pressure aloft over the western Great Lakes will enhance atmospheric mixing. However, light and variable surface winds will limit dispersion, keeping AQI levels high-Good. Sunday through Tuesday, as a cold front departs and surface high pressure develops south of the state, moderate and gusty westerly to southwesterly winds throughout much of the period will disperse pollutants. Additionally, carryover from day to day will be low. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good on all three days.
