Wednesday, July 29: Partly cloudy skies and cool temperatures will keep ozone formation in check. Furthermore, moderate north-northwesterly winds will aid dispersion, leading to Good AQI levels. Thursday, moderate northerly winds will disperse pollutants across northeastern Ohio during the day as a surface ridge of high pressure develops to the west. In addition, mild temperatures will limit ozone development, allowing AQI levels to remain high-Good. Friday, as the surface high moves over Ohio, light and variable winds will hinder dispersion. Furthermore, periods of sun and highs in the mid-80s will support ozone formation, leading to low-Moderate AQI levels. Saturday, increasing clouds will reduce ozone development as a trough of low pressure aloft approaches from the northwest. However, light southeasterly winds will transport regional pollutants into the Mahoning Valley, keeping AQI levels low-Moderate. Sunday, scattered showers and thunderstorms will promote atmospheric mixing and limit ozone formation as the trough of low pressure lingers over the Ohio Valley. As a result, AQI levels will improve to high-Good.
