Primary air pollutant in the Catawba area:
PM2.5 - 56 Moderate
If you are unusually sensitive to particle pollution, consider reducing your activity level or shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
Other Pollutants:
OZONE - 46 Good
PM10 - 17 Good
Monday, July 27: Partly to mostly cloudy skies and aloft smoke will reduce solar insolation and ozone development. However, some aloft smoke will mix to the surface during the day, raising particle levels. As a result, AQI levels will be mid-Moderate. Tuesday, July 28: A trough of low pressure aloft will aid atmospheric mixing, while partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures keep ozone development in check. In addition, moderate northwesterly winds will gradually transport cleaner air into the state, leading to high-Good AQI levels. Wednesday, moderate northwesterly winds will continue to aid dispersion in the Columbus region, while occasional clouds slow ozone formation. As a result, AQI levels will remain Good. Thursday, partly sunny skies and warming temperatures will promote ozone production. However, moderate northerly winds will keep pollutants dispersed during the day, and pollutant carryover will be low. Therefore, AQI levels will be high-Good. Friday, a ridge of high pressure aloft will reduce atmospheric mixing. Furthermore, mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s will enhance ozone development, while calm winds limit dispersion. As a result, AQI levels will increase to mid-Moderate. Saturday, increasing clouds will decrease ozone development as the next trough of low pressure aloft approaches the Buckeye State. However, light and variable winds will allow pollutants to linger across central Ohio, while occasional sun and highs in the mid-80s still promote some ozone formation. These conditions will lead to low-Moderate AQI levels.
