Other Pollutants:
PM2.5 - 14 Good
Current Conditions as of 3pm Friday: Periods of rain have rolled through the region today due to a low pressure and cold front moving through bringing with it gusty southerly wind this morning with gusty westerly winds occurring the rest of today into tonight, which will cause fine particulate (PM2.5) concentrations to drop and stay in the good range. Saturday’s Forecast: On the heels of that storm, another low-pressure approaches from the southwest bringing with it temperatures in the 40’s with periods of rain in the afternoon and evening. With cloudy skies and an easterly morning wind giving way to a southerly wind and rounds of shower, PM2.5 concentrations should stay in the good range. ***Sunday’s Forecast: As the second and much strong cold front swings through, temperatures will drop into the 30’s with scattered snow showers making it feel more like January than the last couple of days. Behind the front, the winds will be quite gusty from the west and adequately mix the air keeping PM2.5 concentrations in the good range. ***Monday’s Forecast: High pressure will start to move in and thus, decrease the wind speeds and also change the wind direction from northwest/west to more southwest. This, along with a slight temperature inversion setting up Monday evening into the overnight hours, will increase PM2.5 concentrations into the upper-good range with some low-moderate values overnight. ***Extended Outlook: Light southwest winds and more tranquil conditions Tuesday into Wednesday will lead to more moderate PM2.5 concentrations ahead of the next front swinging through mid-week.---VanLenten
