Daily Air Quality Forecast for Danbury, North Carolina

AQI readings are generally in the lower Code Yellow range but some areas are approaching the mid Code Yellow range on Saturday. An arctic cold front will sweep through the area during the morning hours tomorrow but the much colder, cleaner air may lag behind a bit which could allow enough elevated hours of particle pollution for daily averages to net out near the Code Green/Yellow threshold. Following a very cold night with lows in the low to mid-teens, a clean air mass will have filtered into the Triad, promoting good air quality to start the new workweek. Very strong surface high pressure will be overhead by Tuesday, creating light surface winds and an environment that will be conducive for the formation of strong temperature inversions that will concentrate fine particles near the surface. As a result, a rapid increase in particle pollution readings back to the Code Yellow range is anticipated. (Greg Perrotte / perrotgt@forsyth.cc)
