A cold frontal boundary has pushed south of the Triad this afternoon, effectively ending the uncomfortable higher humidity that had been observed over the Triad the last few days. Drier air continues to filter in from the north and has allowed ozone levels to approach the upper end of the Code GREEN range. The dry air mass will remain in place over the Triad tomorrow as the front remains stalled well to the south, with lighter winds likely allowing for an increase in ozone production that should tilt ozone AQI into the lower Code YELLOW range. The frontal boundary begins to retreat northward on Saturday, likely remaining south of the Triad through the day until another reinforcing shot of drier and cooler air pushes in from the north late Saturday. The increased cloud cover due to the Triad being in close proximity to the front will likely limit ozone levels, dropping air quality levels into the upper Code GREEN range. Cooler temperatures prevail on Sunday, with air quality levels remaining Code GREEN as we enter next week. (Payne)
