Daily Air Quality Forecast for Long Lake, Minnesota

Today/Wednesday features sunny and warm conditions with showers and thunderstorms making inroads into western and west central Minnesota. These storms will continue to march eastward and will reach our eastern border this evening. Some storms will be severe with wind gusts over 60mph and large hail. There appears to be enough sun ahead of the convection to allow ozone to reach Yellow (Moderate) in the northwest Metro, and the leftover wildfire smoke will lead to Yellow (Moderate) AQIs over most of the state. The showers and thunderstorms will progress eastward through the area late Wednesday/Wednesday night. The disturbance responsible for today's storms will likely set off another round of convection on Thursday in far eastern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Air quality will improve for Thursday, but some light smoke lurking over southern Canada is forecast to bring low Moderate (Yellow) air quality across northern Minnesota on Thursday. Ridging and a northwest frow pattern will take hold starting Thursday night and will dominate our weather pattern into the weekend. It will be sunny and warm with isolated afternoon storms. Our air will be coming from western Canada where currently there is only light smoke in the Canadian prairie provinces. A mix of Good to low Moderate air quality is expected for Friday and over the weekend.
