FORECAST DISCUSSION Michigan has been spared the extreme winter weather events that have been impacting the Texas-to-Virginia corridor over the past few days, but we are still experiencing below normal temperatures with some minor snow events on the way. Michigan will experience a small snow event during Friday with most places receiving 2-3 inches of new snow. The western lake shore counties could potentially see up to 6 inches in spots. This event will linger into the early hours of Saturday with most of the remainder of Saturday quiet, but cold. A clipper lifting out of the Plains states will bring the next winter event to the area Sunday into Monday with a shift to colder temperatures for the remainder of next week. The first window for precipitation opportunity comes Sunday morning as some warm air advection occurs. The National Weather Service has introduced slight chances for freezing rain to the forecast until Sunday night. Either way, snow with potentially some light freezing rain will make Sunday a messy day for travel. The associated cold front will move through early Monday morning with westerly winds throughout the day followed by colder temperatures for the remainder of the work week. Air Quality should be mostly Good for the forecast period, except for Friday which looks to have statewide Low Moderates. EXTENDED FORECAST: Air Quality is expected to be mostly Good going into the next work week.
