Sufficient sun and heat Wednesday will continue to build ozone pollution from local sources, though ozone into the Moderate range will be very isolated in nature due to an absence of any regional-scale ozone pollution, with most Maryland areas staying in the Good AQI range in the clean airmass. A few hourly concentrations near the Bay and over northeast Maryland may push towards the upper Moderate, but daily average exposure will fall well short of the alert thresholds resulting in a Moderate AQI ozone forecast for the I-95 corridor, with Good AQI continuing elsewhere. Clouds dominate Thursday, with surface air likely modified by overnight rain in the region, resulting in low ozone precursor concentrations and a capped ozone potential Thursday. The result will be ozone concentrations soundly in the Good AQI range. Some dry time on Friday may allow temperatures to get close to normal for the time of year, but still modest for ozone production. With insufficient sun and increasing maritime air influence through the day, ozone will remain well within the Good AQI range. Into Saturday a coastal system will keep the Good air quality trend. Fine particle pollution and wildfire smoke concentrations across the country remain significantly diminished compared to recent weeks with no impacts from diffuse smoke expected in Maryland over the three-day forecast period.
