With continued light winds Friday night into Saturday and localized wood burning expected to take place across the region, fine particle concentrations should increase by Saturday morning, probably well within the Moderate AQI range along the urban corridor. While concentrations will decrease during the afternoon, the daily average concentration will likely settle in the upper Good to low-end Moderate AQI range across the state. Overnight Saturday into Sunday some snowfall is expected for middle Maryland. Snowfall typically leads to higher fine particle concentrations, and initially on Sunday morning, fine particle concentrations will be in the Moderate AQI range for most areas. However, in this case a very strong surge of cold air will push in to the state on Sunday with blustery conditions returning Good air quality to the region. Continued Good air quality is expected on Monday as breezy conditions persist in a clean atmosphere. By Tuesday into Wednesday, modification of the atmosphere will begin to occur with Moderate AQI more likely and more widespread by midweek under a warning trend.
