The influence of a nor’easter continues to wane early this week. The storm moves east on Tuesday but will still provide northerly winds on the back side of the system. Regionally clean air will persist with Good AQI. On Wednesday, winds will diminish and begin a southward shift. Temperatures will also be on the increase. At present, regional concentrations are expected to remain modest, though an uptick in fine particle concentrations will be noted, particularly during the early morning hours. Good AQI should continue for the daily average. On Thursday, threshold Good/Moderate AQI is likely for the daily average due to concentrations well into the Moderate AQI during the early morning hours. This pollution will be mixed out in the afternoon, mitigating the daily average and resulting in a threshold Good/Moderate AQI forecast for Thursday. Fine particle forecasting continues year-round.
