Primary air pollutant in the Barton area:
OZONE - 44 Good

Other Pollutants:
PM2.5 - 3 Good
Sufficient scouring of atmospheric particle pollution within fog and light precipitation continue across the region on Friday, keeping fine particle concentrations lower than they might be given the persistent inverted low-levels of the atmosphere. Some increase in fine particles is expected Friday evening due to area wood burning in the cooler temperatures. This pollution will carry into Saturday. Weak mixing north of a warm front over northeastern Maryland for much of Saturday will keep the fine particle forecast within the lower Moderate AQI range. Southern and western areas of the state will see the warm front move north delivering warmer, well mixed air. Unfortunately, diffuse smoke will mix to the surface in these warmer areas, so air quality will improve only marginally to the upper Good to lower Moderate AQI threshold for the daily average there. All areas will initially be in the warm sector Sunday morning. Some diffuse smoke will persist with fine particle concentrations in the lower Moderate AQI range to start. A cold front will move through the region bringing periods of rain which should help scour particles from that atmosphere. Upper Good to low Moderate AQI is therefore expected for the daily average Sunday. Southwesterly flow and warmer temperatures are expected for Monday and into the middle of next week. We値l have to watch for smoke transport from controlled burns across the southeastern US, but generally upper Good and low Moderate AQI due to fine particles will persist.
