In addition, a trough of low pressure aloft will enhance atmospheric mixing, resulting in Good AQI levels statewide. Saturday, as a surface ridge of high pressure settles over the state, calm to light northwesterly winds will hinder dispersion throughout the day. In addition, temperature inversions during the morning and evening hours will confine pollutants near the surface. As a result, AQI levels will increase to high-Good to low-Moderate. Sunday, a strong morning temperature inversion will continue to hinder low-level mixing as the surface ridge of high pressure lingers over southern portions of the state. In addition, areas of morning fog will promote particle formation. Therefore, despite increasing southerly winds aiding dispersion during the afternoon, AQI levels will remain high-Good to low-Moderate.
