Tuesday and Wednesday, warm temperatures and periods of sun will aid ozone development over Louisiana. In addition, light winds will hinder dispersion through much of the period, allowing pollutants to linger over the state. However, a humid, unstable air mass will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon, enhancing atmospheric mixing and limiting ozone production in some locations. As a result, AQI levels will range from Good to low-Moderate. Thursday, a warm and humid air mass will continue to promote low-level mixing despite decreasing coverage of showers and thunderstorms. However, light south-southwesterly winds will limit dispersion and gradually transport a thin plume of Saharan dust into western Louisiana. Therefore, AQI levels will continue to range from Good to low-Moderate.
