Sunday, light to moderate northeasterly winds behind a departing cold front will disperse pollutants and carry clean air across the Bayou State, leading to Good AQI levels statewide. Monday, a broad area of surface high pressure positioned to the northeast of the state will produce light easterly winds, limiting dispersion and gradually transporting thin smoke and other pollutants into Louisiana. Additionally, morning and evening inversions will reduce low-level mixing. These conditions will allow AQI levels to increase to high-Good. Tuesday, calm to light easterly winds early in the day will lead to pollutant accumulation across the Bayou State. However, in the afternoon, winds will strengthen and shift to southerly, enhancing mixing and dispersion. Furthermore, partly to mostly cloudy skies will reduce ozone formation. These conditions will lead to Good to high-Good AQI levels statewide.
